White Feminists Need Not Apply

It Was Never about Equal Rights

Well that didn’t take long, did it? The Women’s March group in Eureka, California has cancelled it’s planned pussy hat march for feminists because they just didn’t like the optics of too many white women. Not only does this show that racists have taken over the movement, but also shows the ignorance of progressive Democrats.

Let’s tackle the obvious first. According to U.S. Census statistics, blacks make up just 13.4 percent of the U.S. population, so looking at population overall, there will be more white feminists than black. And according to a 2015 survey by Public Religion Research Institute, less than half of millennial women even identify as “feminist.” Among millennials, just 47 percent of women identify as a feminist, and less than one-quarter (22 percent) of men associate themselves with the label. Overall, 35 percent of millennials identify as feminists, while 65 percent do not. The statistics also uncovered that race made little difference in identifying with the “feminist” label with White (32 percent), black (36 percent), Hispanic (37 percent), and Asian-Pacific Islander (API) millennials (37 percent) all just as  likely not to identify with the term.

The Women’s March was already under fire for its organizer Tamika Mallory’s ties to anti-Semites Louis Farrakhan and Linda Sarsour, two of America’s most public Jewish haters. It’s also no secret that Mallory worked closely with the Obama Administration as an advocate for civil rights issues, equal rights for women, health care, gun violence and police misconduct. Mallory was publicly applauded as “a leader of tomorrow” by Valerie Jarrett, Senior Advisor to President Barack Obama. She also came under fire not just for her anti-Semitic ties but for her own anti-Semitic sentiments, such as her public statement that white Jews contribute to white supremacy.

Actress Alyssa Milano, who was a huge supporter of the #MeToo movement and spoke at the original March said in a recent interview that she will no longer support the Women’s March as long as it defends “bigotry or anti-Semitism.” In an interview with The Advocate, a gay community magazine, Milano condemned Women’s March organizers Linda Sarsour and Tamika Mallory for supporting Louis Farrakhan. “Any time that there is any bigotry or anti-Semitism in that respect, it needs to be called out and addressed. I’m disappointed in the leadership of the Women’s March that they haven’t done it adequately,” Milano said.

The Women’s March organizers had planned a rally in Eureka, California on January 19 to honor the third anniversary of the original Women’s March in Washington, D.C. following the inauguration of President Trump. After it was revealed that the event would not be as diverse as the Eureka Women’s March, organizers shut it down and released the following statement:

The local organizers are continuing to meet and discuss how to broaden representation in the organizing committee to create an event that represents and supports peoples who live here in Humboldt. Up to this point, the participants have been overwhelmingly white, lacking representation from several perspectives in our community. Instead of pushing forward with crucial voices absent, the organizing team will take time for more outreach. Our goal is that planning will continue and we will be successful in creating an event that will build power and community engagement through connection between women that seek to improve the lives of all in our community.

This cancellation follows on the heels of the Washington state chapter of Women’s March disbanding over concerns of anti-Semitism within the organization’s national leadership and days after the Chicago chapter announced it would not continue with its 2019 rally plans commemorating the national group’s third-anniversary march.

A group of women shrieking about their rights was doomed to fail regardless of the organizer’s anti-Semitic beliefs. Women already have the right to vote, own property, have reproductive rights, receive an education and pursue any lifestyle they wish. It was always a group of bitter, disenfranchised women seeking a cause. The Women’s March was never about equal rights for women but denigrating straight white males. Only now the veil has been completely removed. They just hate white people in general. #Reign well.
